Smt D. Ponnammal
Our hospital was established in 1984 by Dr. D. Sundareswaran in the memory of his parents Smt Ponnammal and Shri Duraiswamy. He was a pioneer in his field and setup the hospital as a center of excellence to provide top qualityand affordable eye care for the community. Dr Sundareswaran completed his MBBS from Madras University in 1936 and acquired his License in Ophthalmology in 1937. Starting his career in Tanjore, he notably dedicated 25 years to the Ophthalmic Department of Coimbatore District Headquarters Hospital, continuing surgeries until he was 87. A founder member of the Tamil Nadu Ophthalmic Association, he also established a free eye clinic in Tiruppur. Actively participating in eye camps and clinical meetings, he held several important positions and made significant contributions to educational and religious institutions. Proficient in multiple languages, his dedication and integrity remain inspirational.
